Marriott Marquis Houston Lazy River
Based on a long and successful relationship with specialty aquatics products manufacturer Natare Corporation, CB Fabricating was asked to join the manufacturing team on one of the most high-profile recent specialty pool projects in the U.S. The 550-foot long, Texas-shaped Lazy River is part of the 1000-room Marriott Marquis Houston hotel project. Located on a rooftop, the Lazy River is formed entirely of stainless steel and incorporates water jets to propel swimmers around on inflatable tubes. The project was completed in late 2016 in preparation for the February 2017 Super Bowl LI.
The unique pool project required CB Fabricating to carefully handle, laser-cut, and form more than 75 different types of one-of-a-kind or small-run odd-shaped floor panels and additional pieces for wall caps and other parts of the structure. The laser cutter and other equipment and handling areas were outfitted with special parts and finishes to ensure the stainless steel was properly handled. Zero tolerance processes were instituted during the stainless steel manufacturing process to avoid any potential rust-causing cross-contamination from contact with carbon steel tools or materials.
CB Fabricating was selected to work with Natare Corporation based on a long relationship with the company and history of providing highly accurate and quality products on schedule and budget. The project was completed to exacting specifications necessary for the uniquely shaped stainless steel, rooftop structure and met the scheduling and budget needs to make the complex, high-visibility project a success.
